Krafty Chicks Challenge #457 Coffee/Crazy Egg

Hello Everyone!
It's Thursday so there's a new challenge
at
Krafty Chicks Challenge!

I'm your hostess this week
and
it's also the 5th Thursday of the month.

When there are five Thursdays, our challenge is always the Crazy Egg Challenge.

This time it also has a Twist - Coffee!

Anyone who knows me well knows I have fallen in-love with sloths, particularly since getting to see and pet one up close and personal (Bart) at the Out of Africa Animal Preserve in Arizona.  Fabulous place that rescues wild animals from circuses, misguided people who try to adopt wild animals for pets, etc, that cannot make it alone back in the wild.  You can even kiss a giraffe! (Hubs did, I refrained.) LOL

Anyhow, I digress.  My point is that I have been accumulating sloth stamps now and this was the perfect time to use the coffee sloth from Newton's Nook.  It was so much fun to create this card.  I colored the "slothy cups" with Catherine Pooler inks and an ink blender pen.

Go meander over to the Hen House and see what all the Chicks have created for our special Crazy Egg/Coffee Twist Challenge.  It's also the last week for our guest designer, Carol. Come play along with us, it's Anything Goes and/or create a coffee themed project.  We love having you play!

Keeping Christmas - May 2019

Good Morning!

It's a holiday weekend so I hope you're enjoying it.  Here in the South it's going to be a scorcher, record temp setting weekend.  May isn't finished yet but it seems like we've skipped all the way past to late July!  Whew!

Anyway, there's more pressing business than the hot weather right now --- Cardmaking!  LOL

It's time for the Keeping Christmas Inspiration Blog Hop.

On the 25th of each month throughout the year we have a blog hop of Christmas cards to help inspire you to build upon your  Christmas cards stash through the year.

This month I tried a "new to me" technique - Underwater Background Technique, and I thought it would be perfect to use along with the Christmas By The Sea stamp set by Flora and Fauna.
Over at Stamp Nation there is a special month of challenges and tutorials going on with the theme "Spring Break".  Heather Little from Ink Road Stamps showed a video tutorial on how to do the underwater background.

It did take me two tries to get the background kind of like I wanted.  I'm not completely happy with it but I will certainly do it again.  I do need to get a couple new watercolor brushes as I think that was partly the problem.  After creating the background, I stamped, colored and fussy cut all the images and heat embossed the sentiment on black cardstock.  I also decided to add a little detail to the bottom of the sea by stamping a coral a couple times in black.  I gave them some shine with a Nuvo Glimmer pen. Next I adhered all of the images and shimmerd the Santa hats as well.

Now hop through the list below and visit the rest of the Design Team's blogs to see what they've created this month for their Christmas card stash.  Hopefully you will be inspired to create a few Christmas cards early yourself!

Hey There - Southwestern Flair

Hello again!

Sharing some cards I haven't had a chance to post.

This one I did for the SN PenPal swap last month.  Some blingy gold Nuvo mousse, an aztec motif stencil on top of ink blending topped off with a shimmery feather and blended sentiment die.

Tropical Friends

Happy Saturday!

I'm sharing a card I made a while back but never shared, mostly because I wanted the recipient to receive it first.  This card was created for a SN Sistah and CP Designs employee, Erika, after the CP Designs had a FB Live PJ/Stamp Party in which Erika made a card from inspiration from the Golden Girls.  So she inspired me to create my own Golden Girls card using my Golden Girls stamp set by Kindred Stamps.
Most of the rest of the supplies were Catherine Pooler Designs - Deco Fan Stencil, Tropically Yours, Leave Me In Paradise as well as all the inks seen, plus Midnight.  I did color Blanche with Copics and the stitched window is by My Favorite things.  I also used a Life Changing Blending Brush by Picket Fences to blend the ink on the stencil.

CAS Christmas - Stocking Reminder

Hello!

Happy TGIF!  The weekend is here!
Today marks halfway through our monthly challenge at
CAS Christmas Card Challenge.

The Design Team is sharing more inspiration for this month's theme --- Stocking,
hosted by Trina.
Here is my card ---

Stop by the CAS Christmas blog and see all of the incredible inspiration by the rest of the Design Team as well as our Guest Designer, Helen.  Then why not come play along and get some Christmas cards created, you have until May 24th to share a stocking card.

Card Supplies:
STAMPS: Stocking from Fully Stocked-(Power Poppy Stamps); Sentiment from Lovely Blessings(Cas-ual Fridays).
PAPER: Solar White cardstock - Neenah; Gold mirror cardstock -stash.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #455 - Fairies

Hello Everyone!

It's Thursday and so it's time for a new challenge at
Krafty Chicks Challenge!

Lori is our hostess this week and she wants
Fairies for the Twist.

I had this stenciled background in my stash and thought it was great for this fairy challenge.  I cut some leaf dies that coordinate with the leaf stencil, both by Catherine Pooler Designs.  Added the scalloped stitched frame by Pretty Pink Posh to add some depth and interest to create a fairy garden for my three die cut fairies by Poppy Stamps.  The "fairy" word die is also from Poppy Stamps and the "hugs" die is Technique Tuesday.  I cut them both three times in white cardstock.  On the top layer, I embossed it twice in WOW Oyster Glintz embossing powder and then inked it again with "stick it" powder by Stampin' Up and added WOW Aladdin embossing glitter. I added some Nuvo glimmer pen to the fairy wings and finished the card off with some clear drops by Pretty Pink Posh I believe.

Don't forget to stop by the Hen House and check out the rest of the Team's cards and our Guest Designer, Carol!  Then come play along with us and our Fairy Twist challenge!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #454 - Make Your Own Background

Hello Everyone!

Wow, Thursdays sure come around quickly!  It's time for a new challenge over at Krafty Chicks Challenge!

Tangii is our hostess this week.
The twist is
Stamp Your Own Background

I am in big need of some masculine cards and so I decided to make one with a masculine stamped background.  I really love how it turned out.  It is one of my all time favorite cards I believe.  Everything is from Catherine Pooler Designs --- from these stamp sets: Good Vibes Border Stamps (bottom border), Fearless Pursuit (dotted border); Note of Thanks, Wild Garden and the background stamp is from the April Sursee Set, which the name has left me.   I used Eucalyptus, Green Tea, Spruce and Skylight ink by Catherine Pooler.

Stop by the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog and check out the rest of the Design Team's projects with homemade backgrounds.  Then, come play along with us!

Super Interactive Birthday

Hello there!

I was very busy in my craft room this past weekend.  The hubs was sick and so our intended very busy "home project" weekend was derailed so while he rested and got better I got some much needed time in my craft room.  Mind you, I'm not happy he was sick, but happy I got to craft.

One of the things I was late in doing was a birthday card for my niece who turned five in April.  Yes, I'm a not so attentive auntie this go around.  Yet, thankfully for the weekend reprieve I managed to finally get it done and off in priority mail.

I recently bought the Reveal Wheel die and coordinating stamps by Lawn Fawn, with my young nieces in mind but now that I've made one, I've decided it's not just for kids.  Since my niece, Sophia turned five, I wanted to make something a little older and so I thought a superhero that looked like her would be fun. So I pulled out a set by Pretty Cute Stamps and colored her up then shimmered lots of her accessories and then the card fell together --- sponging a sky background, stenciling a sunbeam on top with puffy stitched cloud dies with the super girl flying up and away with a bunch of birthday balloons.

Adventure Awaits

TGIF Evening!

I'm posting again today, I know weird isn't it?  We've been up to our eyeballs in house/yard repairs with a revolving door of contractors/estimates over the past two weeks. And finally new fixed plumbing too!  YAY!   You'd think we were building a brand new house, but nope, our 51 year old house just needs some long awaited TLC.   Plus, our son and DIL are moving from OK in with us in a couple months and so it was a "can't put it off any longer" thing.  Anyway, that's why I've been very sporadic with my crafting, my noggin' has been filled to the brim with numbers, paint color chips, bathroom furniture, etc.

And now I've found my weekend wide open as the hubs is home sick, which delays some things but means a little more play time for me.

One thing I've done is finally finished this card for last week's color challenge at Stamp Nation.  Yes, last week.  LOL (I told you I've had too much "life-ing" going on).  I also had taken inspiration from our living room couch pillows.

 Here is the pillow:
The colors of the challenge were Rose Petals, Polished, Mandarin Spice, Peppermint Scrub and Skylight.   So I combined the two to come up with my background which I pretty much made my card. I blended the first three colors on watercolor paper with blender brushes and stamped the images in the Peppermint Scrub. I used the border stamps from CP Good Vibes, a border stamp from CP Stand Tall, a hexagon stamp from CP Hex Marks the Spot along with a monkey and giraffe stamp from the Hero Arts June 2017 Kit.  The sentiment is from Stamplorations Born To Run Set.

Adventure Blessings!

CAS Christmas - Stocking

Happy Friday!

Today is the 3rd which is the day each month a new challenge begins at
CAS Christmas Card Challenge.

Trina is our hostess this month
and
she has chosen Stocking as the theme!

I reached for some background pieces I have created with the baby wipe technique and cut a stocking from it.  I used the Stampin' Up stocking dies.  The toe and heel are also from the same background piece along with the bow.  I cut the stocking top from white glitter cardstock for a little shimmer.  I decided to make the look of a fireplace without a fireplace with the embossed panel and some die cut greenery.  Then I finished it off with the sentiment by Avery-Elle in Mardi Gras ink.

Don't forget to stop at the CAS Christmas blog and see the rest of the Design Team's stocking cards, along with our Guest Designer, Helen.  Then come play along with us this month and make some CAS Christmas cards with stockings.

Krafty Chicks #453 - Celebrations

Hello Everyone!

It's Thursday so you know that means a new challenge over at
Krafty Chicks Challenge!

Amy is our hostess this week and she is looking for Celebrations for our twist.

I like reaching for my background stash sometimes and this was one of them.  I had this stenciled/sponged background in my stash and have been saving it. I I thought it went great with the sparkly flower die I cut and some silver mirrored sentiments I had in my stash too.  I kept it pretty simple since the background pretty much steals the show.

Now stop by the Hen House and see what everyone else on the team has created for Celebrations Twist, and welcome our Guest Designer for May, Carol Gill! Welcome Carol!  Thrilled to have you guesting with us this month!

Come join us and share some celebration projects of your own.  You might be one of our next showcased winners!

Card Supplies:
STAMPS: None.
PAPER: White cardstock - Neenah Solar white; Silver mirrored cardstock; White glitter cardstock.
INK: Feista Blue, Be Mine, Tiara (Catherine Pooler Ink).
EXTRAS: Mod Squared Stencil (Catherine Pooler Designs); Flower die (Stash); Birthday die (MFT Stamps); Wishes Die (Catherine Pooler Designs); clear stones (Pretty Pink Posh).
