Lori is our hostess and she's seeking a Plaid Twist1

Today is also my mom's 85th birthday!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MOM!
HOORAY!

So, in honor of my mom, I made a birthday card with a plaid background---

The foreground is a background stamp by Simon Says that was actually a 2nd generation from alcohol lift technique that I cut down and placed in front of that beautiful lace label by Gina Marie Designs. The background plaid is by Lawn Fawn and the "Hooray" die is by Catherine Pooler Designs that I cut four times in Neenah solar white cardstock and I inked one of them in "It's a Girl" ink by Catherine Pooler.  To finish off the card I added some enamel dots I had in my stash.

Keeping Christmas - January 2019

Happy New Year!

A new year, 11 new months to work on Christmas cards for Christmas 2019!
That's why we have the Keeping Christmas Blog Hop, to inspire you to create Christmas cards every month of the year.  We will be sharing Christmas creations on the 25th of each month!!!

The whole idea is to have some Christmas cards and projects in our stash all ready to go for December 2019!

I have several cards to share with you today.  I created a rainbow of Christmas backgrounds to jump start this year's Christmas card creating.  There are 18 different colored backgrounds using colored cardstock from my stash that was closest to each ink pad (Catherine Pooler Ink).

My plan was to create 18 cards the same just different colors, but as is many times the case, they took another route.  However, I love how they turned out.  All using the same background but all very different.  Ok, I mispoke, because one of them doesn't use the background at all, but as I was putting things together, it just really jumped out at me.

You might want to grab your favorite beverage because you may be here  a few minutes....

I saved my favorite ones for last ----

Now hop along and be sure to visit the rest of the DT's projects. There is a lot of inspiration and ideas to get your creative juices flowing!

Krafty Chicks Challenge #439 Sketch

Hello Thursday!

Boy this week flew by!

It's time for a new challenge
at
Krafty Chicks Challenge

Tangii is our hostess this week.

She has a sketch for us ---

Krafty Chicks Challenge #439 - Sketch

I used Catherine Pooler Designs stamps/dies/stencil to create a Valentine/love card.  The left side is patterned paper from the pack "Smitten" by CP Designs.  The right is a floral stencil I brushed on using ink brush and It's A Girl pink ink (Catherine Pooler Designs).  I created a border between the two with silver washi tape.  I cut the border die twice to give some dimension and adhered some silver glitter washi tape behind it.  The Love You sentiment is a die from the newest Stamp of Approval, Adoring You. I stamped it in Rose Petals.  Then I used Nuvo crystal to add shine to the "You" and Nuvo Glitter pen on top of the "love".  I took a piece of Rose Petal inked cardstock to and cut the small "I do"aTo finish off the card, I stamped and embossed three hearts in silver embossing powder.

Now go check out the rest of the Design Chicks' projects at the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog.  Come play along with us using our sketch twist or our anything goes challenge!

Guest Designing with The Male Room

Happy Wednesday!

I"m thrilled to be Guest Designing today
at
The Male Room Challenge!
I won Challenge #100 Celebrate with this card ---

 Today begins a new challenge
at The Male Room ---

The Challenge is Nature!

So here is my card ---
I decided to go a little safari nature for my card, using a Hero Arts card kit from June 2017.  I started with stamping the Ikat background stamp (which I cannot remember who makes it).  I stamped it in Soft Granite Grey (Hero Arts). Next I stamped the background on another piece of white cardstock, die cut the sun and then sponged Sauna, Mandarin Spice, and Peppermint Scrub ink on top  (Catherine Pooler Inks).  I stamped three birds and the sentiment in CP Midnight Next I sponged some Green Tea CP Ink on white cardstock and die cut the grass (Hero Arts). The safari animals and tree were die cut from black cardstock.

Stop by The Male Room Challenge blog and check out the challenge and the Design Team's projects.  Then, come play along and create a masculine nature project.  It lasts for two weeks.

Thanks to Jane and the rest of The Male Room team for having me as their guest designer this fortnight.  I had a blast making my nature card.

Christmas Globe - CAS Christmas Challenge Reminder

Hello Again!

Another post for today.
Today is the halfway mark for the month of January
and for
our monthly challenge at

Christine is our hostess this month.
She's chosen a wonderful color combo of Blue and Silver.
I think I had part of my card sitting on my craft table for about three months.  I had created the sentiment die cut back in the fall from watercolored paper.  Then when I got Catherine Pooler's snowglobe die, I cut the inner white glitter globe and adhered the sentiment to it.  Then, it sat and sat and sat.  I just really wasn't inspired as to what to do with it.  Until I got some new silver foil/mirror cardstock and then BAM! it came together!  For a CAS card it should took a long time to create it, didn't it?  LOL

Go see what the rest of the Team has created on the CAS Christmas blog for our reminder round of projects.  All sooo beautiful!  Come link up your own blue/silver Christmas card and get started for next year!

Card Supplies:
STAMPS: None
PAPER: Watercolor paper (Strathmore); White cardstock (Neenah 110lb); White glitter paper.
INK: Catherine Pooler Inks- It's a Boy, Fiesta Blue, Something Borrowed.

Krafty Chicks Challenge #438 - Tags

Hello there!

It's Thursday!
And it's the middle of January already! WHOA!

Time for another challenge
at
Krafty Chicks Challenge!

Amy is our hostess this week
and our
twist challenge is
I wanted to use a new chocolate bar stamp so I created my card around it. I stamped the layered chocolate bar with Sandcastle, Over Coffee and Icing On The Cake respectively.  I used a cardbase I had already added the stitched scallop frame to so I masked off the sides and stamped the Love Note background onto it in Sandcastle ink.  Then I made my tag--I cut five tags, one out of craft foam, one from craft plastic and the rest from 110 lb cardstock. Three cardstock ones I cut out the middle with a smaller tag die two sizes down.  I stamped the chips on the front of the one tag without the middle cut.  Then I stacked all the layers together and glued, placed my sprinkles inside and glued down the back tag layer.  The top tag layer I cut from cardstock sponged with three different pink inks.  I also inked a scrap piece with Its'a Girl to cut out the heart for my sentiment, stamped in Over Coffee.  I finished the card off by adding a brown satin ribbon to the tag and tying it with a piece of pink baker's twine.

Be sure and visit the Krafty Chicks Challenge blog and check out the rest of the chicks' wonderful tag projects.  Then, come play along with us in our Tag twist, you might be one of our next winners or our always Anything Goes challenge.

Adoring You - Stamp of Approval - It's Here!

Today is the day!  The new Stamp of Approval Collection, Adoring You is ready for purchase in the Catherine Pooler Designs Shop later today.

If you aren't familiar with Stamp of Approval, it's a quarterly collection of themed stamps, dies, sometimes other goodies coordinated to go together and to help create beautiful cards or projects.  Each collection is exclusive and there is a limited number for sale. Once it's sold out the products aren't available again until maybe months later.

But, if you're a Stamp Nation member, then you get to order early, a perk of being a Stamp Nation member.  It is very easy to become a member by signing up at Catherine's site.  Lots of perks and benefits of joining this online community.

So let me get on with my cards.  I had soooo much fun creating with the stamp sets.  The more I played, the more my mojo cranked up.  It's been lacking a bit lately.  Too much going on and not enough hours in a day.  How can that be only nine days into a new year?  hahaha

My first card is pretty clean and simple.  I used Be Mine and Midnight CP ink for it and bits and pieces from The Key and Congratulations stamp sets.  I love that little corner arc stamp.  I have a couple more ideas for that little baby, just ran out of time to do it.

The next card I got a little "artsy".  I was inspired by the cover of a coloring book I have, Vive Le Color Japan that has cherry blossom branches on it.  Again I stayed with a monochrome color palette, using Polished and Twilight.  I used a fan brush and brushed streaks of Polished onto slightly wet watercolor paper.  Then I stamped the layered flowers, embossing the top layer in white embossing powder.  Next I set the panel in my Misti and lined up the tree branch with the flowers, starting at the top.  I inked it with Twilight, stamped it off on scrap paper (or rather pressed the scrap paper on it since it was in the Misti.  Then I gently closed the lid almost all way to see where to wipe off ink near the flowers.  I guess you'd call this a primitive kind of masking. lol  Once that was all done around all of the flowers, I stamped my sentiment with Versamark and embossed in silver.  I trimmed the panel down, added a strip of silver cardstock for a little more sparkle and laid that whole thing on a cardbase inked on one side with the Polished CP ink to match my flowers.  For a little contrast, I added three black enamel dots.

My final card, I pushed myself out of my comfort zone a bit.  In the Congratulations stamp set are two little square geometric stamps. I had this image in my head of tile squares, like Moroccan or Greek tiles.  So, yes, I stamped all those little squares all around, along with that cute little border stamp.  I chose colors from the Spa Collection as I wanted a little more muted tones.  I used Juniper Mist, Stone Blue, Sauna and Peppermint Scrub.  After all the stamping, a little cutting and popping up some of the squares, I stamped and embossed the sentiment in gold to give the card more of a Moroccan feel.

So just as a reminder again, today is the actual Release of this Stamp of Approval Collection, Adoring You, so if you're interested head over to the Catherine Pooler Designs Shop and shop away.

I want to thank Catherine Pooler again for inviting me to be one of the Guest Designers for this SOA Collection Release.  I had so much fun getting to play with some of these stamps early!  It's a beautiful and fun set!

Adoring You- Stamp of Approval

Happy Tuesday!

Well, I'm excited!
I have been invited by Catherine Pooler to be a Guest Designer for the upcoming Stamp of Approval Collection, Adoring You, available tomorrow, January 9th in the Catherine Pooler Designs Shop.

The Adoring You Collection goes on sale tomorrow - January 9th!  You can go to Catherine's site, here, for more details.

I'm so thrilled to share with you some of the cards I have made with the some of the stamps sets from Adoring You.

My first card uses the stamp set, The Key.
I started my card off by lightly tracing a heart on white cardstock using a basic heart die.  Then, using my Misti, I set the stamps around the left side of the heart. I gently "bent" a couple of them to conform to the heart shape.  This is easily done using the Misti or an acrylic block. I set them up on the left side of the heart, prepped to stamp with Versamark and embossed in gold embossing powder.  I repeated the process on the right side.  Once that was done I colored in the heart and little areas in each key for a little pop of color, using a red Copic marker.  I kept the rest of the card simple, just adding two tiny strips of black cardstock at the bottom and setting the whole thing on a black cardbase.

My next card that I created I used The Key set again along with the Congratulations set.  The Congratulations set comes with a lot of great sentiments to use for any kind of celebration whether it's new home, new job, new baby, whatever, all in one set with several different lettered "congratulations" words as well. I created a background using the keys and locks from The Key and then added in some of the words from the Congratulations set to create a "new home" card.  I white embossed the Congratulations sentiment on some gold flecked vellum to lay across the top of the card.

My last card I did a lot of stamping again using the Happy Together Stamp set.
Those birds are just too "adoring"!  I started stamping them until I now have my own paper bird aviary in every color you can imagine! LOL .   I used some of the flower stamps and little heart from the set to create a cascading floral/heart shower falling through the sentiment, Love You, which is also in the set.

Come back tomorrow.  I have more goodies to share!  And don't forget to check out the blog, video and Instagram hops going on January 7-9th.  You can start at Catherine' blog.  Then ready your credit card or Paypal to shop tomorrow! 😉
