Hello!
So are you hot where you are? We were cool for a few days but now it's steamy hot here again in NC. Those dog days of summer I guess!
Well, find a cool place to sit
with a cold glass of lemonade or sweet tea
and
check out the mid month projects
for CAS Christmas!
Loll is our hostess this month
and
the theme is
Poinsettia!
I broke out my poinsettia die set by Tim Holtz for this card. I cut all the layers out of watercolor paper and watercolored them with CP Inks smooshed on an acrylic block and a water brush. I did the same for the berry stems. After I colored them, I swiped clear Wink of Stella on them.
I used a new background die by Memory box, using it in the two corners of the card base. This created a nice diagonal in the middle for my poinsettia die. I decided to leave some of the circles of the background die on so I covered the back of the front of the cardbase with vellum to help hold them in.
The center of the poinsettia is white pearl gems that I colored with a rose colored Copic marker. After I stamped my sentiment on the card I adhered the flower with adhesive tape and Tombow liquid glue.
Now stop by the CAS Christmas Blog and check out the rest of the team's beautiful poinsettia cards! All so gorgeous! Then ink up, sponge, watercolor, color, whatever a poinsettia and play along with us! You have all month until July 24th so you can play several times with new projects. And just make sure they are CAS (clean and simple).

Wow...absolutely stunning. That poinsettia and the colours you've used are beautiful. Love how you did the background die cutting and the vellum. Wonderful card and thank you for joining in the fun challenge at The CAS Mix Up with your stunningly beautiful card x.
Love the way you left part of the die cut intact by adding vellum behind it - a brilliant idea that I must remember! Your poinsettia is gorgeous - the loveliest soft colours. And the sprigs of berries are a great finishing touch!
I love the awesome design and the way you used the die-cut in the background (leaving some of the circles), Nance! I didn't notice that you used the vellum behind until I read your blog. It's a great idea.
Your coloring of the poinsettia/leaves/berries is stunning! I can see the beautiful layers of the colors and the shimmer even in the picture. Hideko xx
beautiful colouring on your poinsettia, love the soft colour sparkle and the pop of red on the berries. Great background,so cool with some of the circles in place. Love the card:)
This is a gorgeous poinsettia, Nance! Beautifully colored and I love the berry sprig peeking out! Brilliant idea to leave some of the circles in the die cut! Love the random look of it! A beautiful Christmas card, my friend!
Gorgeous layered poinsettia Nance!! Love the soft mix of colours you've used to create your delicate poinsettia. Looks amazing over the die-cut front. Inlaying some of the pieces from the corner die-cuts is a great design element. Thanks for also sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! xx
Beautiful card, Nance! Superb design. The muted colours are so cool and pretty. Love the coloured white pearl gems added to the center. xx
