Monthly Featured Designer - Bev Katsman Buenker

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.  I had both my sons home together for 10 days during the holidays for the first time in six years! It was such a blessing! My son and daugther-inlaw flew in from Oklahoma before Xmas and left New Year's Day.  Unfortunately they went home to find a flooded mess in their apartment, the kitchen and living room. Somehow a pipe clogged up from the apartment above them and the clog traveled down to their kitchen where they had left their faucet trickling to keep from freezing.  Now, they're hoping to get carpet replaced as well as having to file a claim to their renter's insurance for damaged furniture , all just three days before my son has to have knee surgery and a week before their new semester begins.  Suffice to say, their new year has not begun quite so "happy".  And being a mom, 1,000 miles away, the worry is in high gear.

With having our family home for the holidays and my current distraction of my kids' situation, I'm afraid my creative mojo has been a "no go".  It took me a while to come up with something, but I finally did ----

The stamp and sentiment are from Unity Stamps.   I stamped the image in Vintage Photo distress ink and then outlined it with gold Wink of Stella.  The sentiment is stamped in Versafine black.  The side border is a stencil from Stamplorations I inked with Bermuda Bay ink.  I used the Bermuda Bay to ink around the rest of the card also.  I think the card looks better in person than in my photo.

Now show play along with our sketch and share your projects with us!  You have until Noon (PST) on Sunday, January 10th

New Year Challenge Blessings!

Your card is beautiful! Love the colours you have used and your twist on the sketch is perfectly inspired. I hope things settle back to the more 'normal' for your family soon, a rotten thing to have happened Karen x

Oh this is so pretty! Those rich blues remind me of the Caribbean. Love the dragonfly, and that stencil is the perfect compliment for him. Really a lovely card. Sorry to hear about the troubles your son and dil had when they arrived home. I hope the clean up and fix up go smoothly, and that your son's surgery goes well too. Bev

Your mojo is alive and well, my friend! What a beautiful dragonfly and he's perched perfectly! Love the shades of blue you've achieved with one ink pad. Sorry for your son's trouble. It's hard to be so far away from family. I'm glad you had some time together over the holidays. A special time.

That rich, teal background is perfectly scrumptious, Nance, and I just love the way the gold simply pops off of it! So pretty!
