4 Crafty Chicks #379 - Crazy Egg Anything Goes!

Happy Thursday!

It's time for a new challenge at
4 Crafty Chicks!

It's the 5th Thursday of the month so you know what that means too ---

4 Crafty Chicks #478 - Crazy Egg Anything Goes!

Lori is our hostess again this week!
Anything Goes means you can create whatever your heart desires!

I made this card for one of my hub's colleagues for his anniversary.  His wife loved it.  I saw Jennifer McGuire's post a month back on using dies to create faux letterpress cards, so I decided to try it.  I used the stamp/die set, Flourishing Phrases, from Stampin' Up. I made two dies for it for the "letter pressing".  I also cut a couple oval dies out to letter press the area for my sentiment as well.  The sentiment is from My Favorite Things set "Love You More".  I used "It's A Girl" pink ink by Catherine Pooler.
Inside (just stamped)

Come to the Hen House and check out the rest of the team's projects.  Then share your ATG in the linkup and play along!

The Simply Sweet Christmas Inspiration Hop!

Welcome to
The Simply Sweet
Christmas Inspiration Hop!

Lesley Croghan, has asked The Challenge Design Team and special guest, Julee Tilman to join her in an inspiration blog hop focusing on Last Minute Simple Yet Sweet Christmas cards or tags.  The Hop begins on Lesley's blog, Always Playing With Paper.

Hop through the list below, visiting each blog and leaving a comment:

I made two sets of five cards for the Hop.

Stamps: Plaid background stamp (Catherine Pooler); Merry Christmas sentiment -"Here We Come A Caroling" (Catherine Pooler); Beep Beep sentiment and VW Bug - "Driving to the Holidays" (Flora & Fauna).
Paper: Neenah 110 lb white cardstock; black cardstock.
Ink: Brights - Party Collection (Catherine Pooler); Muted colors - Spa Collection (Catherine Pooler); Midnight Archival Ink (Catherine Pooler).
Extras: Wonky stitched rectangle die (Stamplorations); Reindeer antler dies (Flora & Fauna). Red pearl gem.

I was originally going to make just five cards but I was loving how they turned out so I decided to use more muted colors and stamp five more.  I started by cutting out all the little reindeer antlers.  Then I cut 10 sheets of white Neenah cardstock 4-1/4"x4-1/2" and five more at 4-1/4x5-1/2".  I also cut 10 small strips from black cardstock for a border between the plaid and white cardstock. I took the 10 pieces of cardstock and mass stamped the sentiments together in black archival ink using my Misti.  I switched stamps and stamped the VW bug above the sentiment in each color.  Next I inked up the plaid background stamp by Catherine Pooler, inking one half of the stamp with the bright red (Rocket Red) and the other half with the muted red (Peppermint Scrub) and continued this process with each color.  I only needed a small 1-1/2 inch piece of plaid for the bottom portion of my card so I found it saved a lot of time (and ink) to double up colors on the stamp halves. I used the larger five white cardstock pieces to stamp the plaid.  After stamping everything, I cut each plaid color to two inches (left a little to overlap under the top white cardstock).  I adhered the plaid piece to the stamped white cardstock piece and ran it through my Big Shot to cut the stitched border.  I adhered all the top pieces to white cardbases, glued on the black strip and all the antlers and added the red gem to the car front.

Lesley is also offering a prize of 4 matching Christmas cards handmade by her. She will send them to one random winner.

In order to qualify to win please...

1. Visit each blog in the hop and leave them a comment.

2. Leave a comment on Lesley's blog telling her about your "Christmas Cards"...how many do you make and what style do you usually use?

The Giveaway Contest closes on Saturday, December 2nd.

4 Crafty Chicks #378 - Outdoor Winter Activity

Happy Thursday!

Happy Thanksgiving
if you're in the U.S.!

Hope you have a blessed and yummy holiday!

Today there is a new challenge
at
4 Crafty Chicks!

Lori is our hostess this week.  She wants to see Outdoor winter activities.

So I had to ponder this one myself because as I rummaged around in my stamps, I discovered I'm lacking in the outdoor winter activity section.  HaHaHa

However, I have the new Stamp of Approval collection, Winterhaven, and so I made a card showing Christmas Caroling as my outdoor winter activity.  Hey, it works!
The stamp set is Here We Come A Caroling. Scalloped frame is Pretty Pink Posh.  I used Party Collection Inks by Catherine Pooler for my northern sky.  Hopefully that was evident that I was going for the Northern Lights.  LOL . I sponged around the edges of the sky with Juniper Mist, one of the newest inks from CP's Spa Collection.  I embossed the sentiment to stand out against the sky and added a bit of WOW Wonderlust to the edge of the snow hill and punched a star (Poppy Stamps, I think) out of silver mirror paper.

Be sure and stop by the Hen House and check out the rest of the chicks' projects, including our Guest Designer, Lisa.  And ink up those stamps or cut those dies and play along with us!

4CC #377 Recipe

Good Morning again!

It's a busy Thursday and it's barely started!

It's time for a new challenge
at
4 Crafty Chicks!

Tamie is our hostess this week
and
she has created a Recipe for us ---

4 Crafty Chicks #377 - Recipe: 1 Bow, 2 Colors and 3 Snowflakes

I love card recipes.  Half the work is already done for you in figuring out what to create!

I used snowflake dies from Avery Elle and Taylored Expressins.  The decorative border die is by Pretty Pink Posh and the sentiment die is by Lawn Fawn.  I sponged the background using Catherine Pooler inks, Sweet Sixteen and Mint To Be.  I cut the big snowflake out of the same sponging then bumped it up a little.

4 Crafty Chicks #376 - Give Thanks

Good Morning Thursday!

It's time for a new challenge
at
4 Crafty Chicks!

I'm hostess today and I've chosen a "thank you" theme.

Thanksgiving here in the U.S. is just two weeks away!  I could have sworn it was just July and now it's November.  I know the Canadian Thanksgiving was last month and there are a lot of holidays coming up in December and the holidays, whatever you celebrate, are always a good time to be more thankful than usual.

You could say I have a lot to be thankful for lately.  Yesterday I thought  it was Thursday more than once and I was in a total panic! I didn't have my blog posts done.  So I am thankful it wasn't Thursday yesterday.   I've lost track of time lately and if I wasn't constantly behind I wouldn't know where I was. LOL So guess I'm thankful to at least be somewhere.  I'm also thankful that no matter that it looks like every room in the house has exploded over the past few weeks while we are redecorating/mini-renovating, we have a home.  I'm thankful that even though the materials we ordered ---interior doors, doorknobs, door jams, moulding, crown moulding were a week late, we now have them.  It would have been nice had the jams and baseboards been primed like I thought they would (guess what I'm doing after the holidays), but I am thankful for the local building supply store that built them.  Of course, then the hubs fried our dining room dimmer switch trying to put up a new light. So I am thankful he didn't fry himself in the process as well.  And, I'm thankful at least re-painting of Phase One is done.

I'm also thankful for my 4 Crafty Chick teammates, being a part of the team and every Crafty Chick challenge!  So here's my card for this week's challenge:

I decided to do some stenciling.  I used the Perfect Vines stencil and dies by Catherine Pooler and a "thanks" die from Lil Inker Designs.  I blended Peeled Paint and Dried Marigold distress inks over the stencil and also used them for the sentiment die.  I added some Glossy Accents to the leaves and finished the card off with some kraft twine.

Make sure to visit the Hen House and see the projects by my teammates' Leanne, Tamie & Lori and our November Guest Designer, Lisa.  Then get crafty and share your own "thanks" project with us in the Inlinkz!

For Following Challenges:

I found inspiration for my card with this week's Muse Challenge in the colors, the leaf background and the layout.  I did kind of a reverse in that I stenciled my background and made my die leaves white.
